This lecture explores the “clean paradox” — the unintended consequences of conventional shaping and irrigation protocols — and presents an evidence-based pathway toward smarter, biologically driven techniques.
Attendees will examine the chemical-mechanical factors contributing to debris formation and lateral packing, and learn how modern approaches, such as the SonicStream rinsing, can harmonize instrumentation and irrigation to achieve safer, cleaner, and more predictable outcomes. Emphasis will be placed on clinical integration, efficiency, and real-world applicability.

Dr. Carlos Alberto Spironelli Ramos is a highly experienced endodontist with a Ph.D. in endodontics, boasting more than thirty-five years in clinical practice, research, and education. For 18 years, he headed the endodontics department at Londrina State University in Brazil before moving to the United States in 2012. Dr. Ramos is proficient in three languages and has presented numerous lectures and hands-on training on U.S. and international platforms. His deep passion for education is evident through his extensive writing, which includes books, chapters, articles, and research papers. Additionally, he has developed and secured five international patents for innovative devices and techniques in the endodontic field, such as apex locators, reciprocating movement, heat treatment technologies, and ultrasonic irrigation. Dr. Ramos resides in Richmond, Virginia, overseeing Woodpecker's global education, research, and development initiatives.
