Peri-implantitis is one of the most common complication in implant dentistry. Dental implants require careful case and patient selection, surgical assessment and prosthetically driven implant placement.
Long-term success of implant-supported prosthesis also requires an implant maintenance regimen to monitor and detect peri-implant diseases and conditions.
This lecture will provide a blueprint to help clinicians prevent the onset of peri-implantitis and highlight clinical and surgical techniques in the management of implants suffering from advanced peri-implant disease.

Dr. Hassanpour is an accomplished periodontist with extensive expertise in both clinical practice and academic research. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and has conducted significant research in the fields of osteoclast differentiation and maturation, as well as neutrophil phenotyping, which contributed to his completion of two Master of Science degrees.
Dr. Hassanpour obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Toronto and subsequently pursued advanced specialization in Periodontics at the same institution, earning his specialty degree. He is a licensed and board-certified periodontist, operating a practice limited to periodontology and implantology in Toronto, Ontario.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Hassanpour is passionate about education. He serves as a part-time clinical and didactic instructor at the University of Toronto’s Graduate and Undergraduate Periodontology clinics, where he shares his knowledge and expertise with future generations of dental professionals.
Dr. Hassanpour is also an active leader in the dental community. He has served on the general council of the Ontario Dental Association, is the past president of the Toronto Central Dental Society, and has recently completed his term as president of the Ontario Society of Periodontology.
