This course will educate the participant in the advancements in the surgical technique for crestal sinus lift surgery and vertical bone augmentation significantly reducing intraoperative complications improving the outcome for patients. An innovative technique to evaluate and manage the sinus related ridge deficiency will be addressed using CBCT diagnostics and a methodical, controlled approach. This comprehensive, interactive course allows participants to expand their knowledge base and clinical skills to confidently manage sinus cases indicated for the crestal sinus lift approach.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, participants will:
• gain practical knowledge of the anatomy of the sinus necessary prior to sinus surgery
• learn how to assess, diagnose and manage sinus diseases and anatomical deviations
• be able to make a critical appraisal of different biomaterials used in sinus augmentation in a crestal sinus lift approach
• understand the limitations and potential complications associated with crestal approach sinus surgery
• learn the features of sinus wound healing and the steps in post-surgical management
Dr. Grisdale is a Board-Certified Specialist in Periodontics and Prosthodontics. Dr. Grisdale was formerly a full-time faculty member in the graduate periodontal residency program at Loma Linda School of Dentistry, Loma Linda, CA and is currently an invited lecturer. He also works part-time in a periodontal / implant practice.
Dr. Grisdale lectures extensively in the United States, Canada, and has lectured in Southeast Asia and Europe. He is a mentor for Periodontic and Implant Study Clubs. Dr. Grisdale has published on the topic of treatment for dentin sensitivity, implants, bone regeneration and soft tissue periodontal adhesives. He is an active participant in clinical research and the study of contemporary periodontal products. He is a member of several professional societies.

Dr. Azeem Sheikh, a distinguished alumnus of the University of Western Ontario (2003), completed his Implant Training at the University of Toronto in 2005. He has been practicing for over 20 years and operates a referral-based GP private practice in Brampton, Ontario, focusing on Immediate Implant surgery and Full Arch solutions. Dr. Sheikh is a renowned course lecturer and educator on topics such as Immediate Implant Therapy, Guided Bone Regeneration and Sinus Lifting along with topics focusing on Case Acceptance and the Business of Dentistry. He has performed over 600 indirect sinus lifts and placed over 5000 immediate implants including anterior, molar, and full-arch implants. He serves as the Course Director and Clinical Instructor for the Hiossen Implant Training Program and is the founder of the Ontario Dental Implant Network, which provides live surgery mentorship and programs to over 200 dentists.
