Maxillary incisor implants present high Esthetic – Restorative – Surgical challenges and risks, particularly marked with immediate implantation & temporization in fresh extraction sockets. While peri-implant tissues and osseous contours are essential considerations, the crown/root axis angulation and shape/contour of the restoration are of critical importance to determine the sagittal angulation of the implant and whether the restoration is screw-retained or cement-retained.
This presentation will discuss the application of surgical and esthetic guidelines, based on a simple esthetic reference and peri-implant tissue relationship when an immediate implantation protocol of a maxillary incisor is chosen. Clinical cases illustrate how to predictably plan variations from the so-called “ideal”, when necessary, without compromising outcomes.
