CONTINUING EDUCATION

CERTIFICATES OF ATTENDANCE

JDIQ records attendance electronically for all participants except students. To obtain Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for a conference presented on Monday or Tuesday, the participant must have registered his or her attendance within the first 45 minutes of the start of the presentation. Anyone arriving after this time will not receive the CEUs allocated for that conference, or be able to claim them after the conference.

WORKSHOP DISCLAIMER
For those attending workshops, please be aware of the potential risks associated with using new techniques and procedures without having fully attained a competency level to practise them.

REGISTRE DE FORMATION CONTINUE

Each participant is responsible for keeping their continuing education (CE) file up to date. It is also up to all participants to have their badges scanned by the session monitor before the start of the lecture to record proof of attendance.

To report your CE units, you must enter your training hours in your Continuing Education Register. Training hours are automatically converted into CE units. For example, for a 3-hour workshop, enter 3 hours and the conversion to 6 CE units will take place automatically.

ORDRE DES DENTISTES DU QUÉBEC (ODQ)

Requirements for members of the ODQ to comply with the regulation of Continuing Education are calculated in CE units. For example, for all members of the Ordre des dentistes du Québec:

• 1 hour of CE theory courses = 1 unit
• 1 hour of CE hands-on courses = 2 units

In accordance with the regulation for Continuing Education that will be in effect, a theoretical course of 2.5 hours will earn 2.5 CE units and a hands-on course of 3 hours will earn 6 CE units. CE units will be allocated to all delegates visiting the Exhibit Hall, one unit per day for a maximum of 2 units.

ORDRE DES HYGIÉNISTES DENTAIRES DU QUÉBEC

Dental hygienists are responsible for both entering their training hours into their continuing education record on the Campus HD online learning platform and keeping their supporting evidence (certificate) in case it is required, for example, during a professional inspection.

Effective April 1, 2024

In accordance with Article 6 of the new Regulation on Mandatory Continuing Education for Dental Hygienists, training activities offered during the Journées dentaires internationales du Québec (JDIQ) are recognized by the Order. The calculation of these activities is based on the number of hours:

  • For activities attended during the pre-congress (Friday to Sunday), enter the number of hours for each training session;
  • 2.5 hours are allocated per half-day on Monday and Tuesday;
  • One hour per day is granted for visiting exhibitors for a total of 2 hours for the entire congress duration.

Please note that the name badge must be validated by an attendant at the entrance of each activity, including the exhibitor hall.

ACADEMY OF GENERAL DENTISTRY (AGD)

JDIQ’s identification number with the AGD is 214623.

ROYAL COLLEGE OF DENTAL SURGEONS OF ONTARIO (RCDSO)

Three CE points will be earned for a half-day session and 6 CE points for a full-day session. One bonus point may be earned with a workshop. Full-day session must be attended in its entirety (AM and PM)—partial points will not be allocated for attending only a portion of a full-day continuous session. To receive the 6 CE points for a continuous session, attendees must scan in the AM and again in the PM.

CE points earned may be attributed to one of the following Quality Assurance (QA) Categories as per the RCDSO QA program:

Category 1: core courses (including an independent assessment)

Category 2: clinical courses

Category 3: practice management, personal development and general attendance in the Exhibit Hall

In order to verify attendance and ensure that attendance records are accurate, dentists must Scan IN to all sessions they attend. For Category 1 (Core) courses, all ODA members need to Scan IN and Scan OUT

Category 1 (Core) courses:

  • Scan IN

  • Complete the independent assessment (quiz), print name and ODA membership number
  • Hand in the assessment to the session monitor and then Scan OUT of the session

Category 2 and 3 courses:

  • Scan IN

Please note that you cannot earn credit for the Exhibit Hall and courses during the same half-day.
