Doctor Faraj Edher is a Specialist in Prosthodontics focused on restorative and implant reconstructions using integrated digital workflows. Dr. Edher is the Founder of Canada’s largest study club, the BC Dental Study Club, and the Director of the Digital Dentistry Institute. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor and guest lecturer at the University of British Columbia and has numerous publications in areas such as digital dentistry and dental implants.

He received his dental degree from the University of Sharjah College of Dental Medicine, and then completed his Masters in Craniofacial Science and post-graduate specialty training in Prosthodontics at the University of British Columbia.

The advent of technology in dentistry has revolutionized the field of implantology, making precision and predictability the new standard. From CBCT manipulation and interpretation to virtual implant planning and guided surgeries, digital workflows are rewriting the protocols of implant placement. This comprehensive workshop aims to provide an introduction to these advanced technologies, showcasing how they transform implant dentistry.

This workshop offers a hands-on journey into the latest technological advancements in implantology.

Participants will be introduced to a comprehensive array of techniques including CBCT manipulation and interpretation, virtual implant planning, guide design and 3D printing, and the protocols for guided surgery.

We will also discuss and demonstrate restorative workflows for provisional and final implant restorations. The course aims to provide the foundational knowledge and skills required to integrate these advancements into your implant practice.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the importance and advantages of digital workflows in implant dentistry and how they contribute to a more predictable and precise implant placement;
  • Competently manipulate and interpret Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scans to aid in effective implant planning and placement;
  • Use virtual planning tools to design and visualize implant placements, thus improving treatment predictability and patient satisfaction;
  • Design surgical guides using digital tools and understand the process of 3D printing these guides for use in guided surgery;
  • Apply the protocols of guided surgery in a hands-on environment, demonstrating the increased accuracy and safety this method provides in implantology;
  • Discuss immediate temporization methods that complement the guided surgical workflow;
  • Gain insights into digital restorative workflows for implant restorations.
