THE CLASS IV RESTORATION USING NATURE AS THE INSPIRATION

Presented by:

This hands-on course and lecture will be using nature as the inspiration to biomimetically reproduce class IV restorations.

After diving into the beautiful world of nature, including external and internal anatomy of teeth with unique 3D visuals, we will explore the different options and techniques for mastering resin cases. We will explore both simple and complex layering techniques to create two different natural results with a focus on 3D volume control and a finishing and polishing masterclass.

Lecture learning outcomes:

  • Anatomy of anterior teeth – morphology (transitional and incisal line angles, embrasures, developmental grooves, light-reflected areas, and light-deflected   areas).
  • An appreciation of the beauty of nature.
  • Understanding 3D volume control.
  • Optical and mechanical principles of composite resins.
  • Different matrix options and contact point techniques.
  • Optimising different layering techniques Important factors for the longevity of the composite.

Hands-on learning outcomes:

  • Simple Class IV (understanding the bevel, simple layering protocol).
  • Natural Class IV incisor – upper central incisor (reproducing halos, translucency, incisal effects, lifelike results).
  • Finishing and Polishing protocol masterclass (macrotexture and microtexture).

This will be an intensive day best suited to delegates who are keen users of composite resin.
